Schotland

Roadtrip of 6 days with buddy Chris. Start and finish Edinburgh. From there to the Speyside to enjoy some whisky’s and on to the Northern Highlands. Played some golf and enjoyed the amazing countryside of this lovely country. Pics: Schotland

Costa Blanca

Just returned of a 9 day road trip through the South East of Spain. Besides a lot of nice people, we saw a great countryside, nice cities, beautiful beaches and ate wonderful food. We ended the trip in Valencia because of Las Fallas, the yearly festival. Pics: Costa Blanca

Peru, Bolivia and Chili

3 weeks in these great countries. About 1 week per country. This was way too short, but we had a taste of it and it did taste good! Highlights per country: Machu Picchu in Peru, Uyuni Salt Flat and Eduardo Avaroa in Bolivia and Atacama desert in Chili. Pics: Peru, Bolivia and Chili.

Cyprus

Cyprus exceeded my expectations, especially the Troodos Mountains. The scuba we did on the wreck Zenobia was spectacular as well. We were able to see quite a bit, but given the time, we also had to skip a lot. Maybe back again and maybe in winter when you seem to be able to ski… Shortcut to pictures

Andalusia

Last week we traveled 8 days through beautiful Andalusia. Granada, Cordoba, Sevilla, Cadiz, Jerez, Ronda and Malaga. Far too little time for such great cities, but we’ll be back! Shortcut to pics

Jordan

What a great country. So much culture, nature, hospitality and variety in a country not much bigger than the Netherlands. Petra is the country’s main attraction, but Jordan has more. Wadi Rum has to be one of the most beautiful deserts on earth, the many wadis, the Greek/Roman/Byzantine city in Jerash, religious sites like Baptism of Jesus and mt. Nebu, the many trekkings you can do, scuba diving in Aqaba, drifting in /on the Dead Sea and more, on a relatively short flight from Europe. Shortcut to pics

Malta & Gozo

We had a nice 10 days at Malta (6) and Gozo (4). Both islands very historic, nice bays, nice people and fine food. Above water nature maybe isn’t that interesting, but under water it is. And very nice wrecks to dive to. I was very charmed by the ancient city of Mdina and Valletta and her 3 ‘knight cities’. Shortcut to pics

Bommelerwaard

A midweek on and at the waters of the Bommelerwaard on a so called blokhutboot. This is a sort of floating log cabin. We had the nicest weather possible and had a great time barbecuing, making campfires, bird and beaver spotting, canoeing, swimming, etc. Very recommendable! Shortcut to pics

Zakynthos

Great week at Zakynthos. Just after we booked the trip, the biggest part of Greece became a no go area because of Covid for the Dutch. But luckily for us not Zakynthos. We did a lot of relaxing, some scuba, rented a boat for a day, had real nice dinners at nice places among the lovely Greek people and did a lot of beach bumming! Shortcut to pics

Bonaire

One nice week in Bonaire under weird circumstances. When we left, Bonaire was one of the places to go with almost no COVID issues. When checking again during our stopover in Curaçao, the number of cases had increased from 4 to 32! As a result Bonaire went in light lock down 1 day after our arrival. Although none of the cases were tourist related, all restaurants and dive shops were closed! It’s a small island which has quite a good healthcare system, but not able to cope with large numbers. Luckily for us the restaurant on our dive resort remained open for guests AND even more important, it was still possible to get tanks to go diving. You had to reserve them a day in advance and pick them up the next morning.

So the rest of the week we did a lot of diving. Not much else to do with this lock down, but diving was the main reason we came, so no complaints!

Wednesday we went out on a boat with a friend of ours who lives on this lovely island . Scuba gear, cold beers, some snacks and we were off! Thanks again Jeroen!

Rest of the week was all about scuba diving and beach bumming. We’ll probably be back!
