One nice week in Bonaire under weird circumstances. When we left, Bonaire was one of the places to go with almost no COVID issues. When checking again during our stopover in Curaçao, the number of cases had increased from 4 to 32! As a result Bonaire went in light lock down 1 day after our arrival. Although none of the cases were tourist related, all restaurants and dive shops were closed! It’s a small island which has quite a good healthcare system, but not able to cope with large numbers. Luckily for us the restaurant on our dive resort remained open for guests AND even more important, it was still possible to get tanks to go diving. You had to reserve them a day in advance and pick them up the next morning.
So the rest of the week we did a lot of diving. Not much else to do with this lock down, but diving was the main reason we came, so no complaints!
Wednesday we went out on a boat with a friend of ours who lives on this lovely island . Scuba gear, cold beers, some snacks and we were off! Thanks again Jeroen!

Rest of the week was all about scuba diving and beach bumming. We’ll probably be back!
